This is because the political elite are the ones who are supposed to fight against corruption, but they are the same people who benefit from it.



Secondly, democracy in Nigeria has been characterized by political violence, especially during election periods. The election season in Nigeria is usually a time of tension and anxiety. There have been cases of election-related violence that have claimed many lives and caused a lot of damage to property. The violence is usually instigated by politicians who use thugs and other unscrupulous elements to carry out their dirty deeds.
